Celebrities Who Have Changed Their Look
Published
5 years agoon
Over the course of their careers, celebrities evolve and take different paths than they would have when they were younger. We can’t expect them to stay the same forever – after all, they’re only human! But some stars have completely reinvented themselves from the ground up.
Whether it’s complete makeovers or fundamental lifestyle changes, most of the time it’s great to see famous people’s evolutions, mostly because it humanizes them in a positive way. But unfortunately some transformations don’t end so well. See which celebs switched it up ahead!
Zach Galifianakis
Zach Galifianakis is popular for his dry style of humor that he infuses into his roles, particularly in the Hangover movies. He has also employed it in his awkward-interview show Between Two Ferns, in which he attempts to (albeit comedically) roast his celebrity guests in a wry manner. However, we’re pretty sure he looks far better with the bushy beard.
Kylie Jenner
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star and Kylie Cosmetics founder has changed her appearance more often than her daddy-o has (or is it her mother-o now?). She has even admitted that she’s gone a bit too far on some occasions (including her lips).
Kevin Smith
After an incident concerning his weight on a commercial airline in 2010, the king of nerds shed a bit of weight (and found some beard thickener by the looks of it).
Miranda Lambert
Miranda Lambert released her first single in 2004, which ended up ranking at the very top of Billboard’s Top Country Albums charts. She has been nominated for 12 Grammys, winning two of those, and has received various country music awards. Blake Shelton was her husband for four years but they divorced because, well, don’t they all eventually get divorced?
Daniel Craig
His long career in high-octane action films has certainly given Daniel Craig that “shaken, not stirred” appearance. Though he’s obviously most popular as the current Bond, he’s also indulged in his fair share of action movies from Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to Cowboys and Aliens. He’s currently down for one last Bond outing, which is totally fine with me.
Drew Carey
In making his own name, Drew Carey started out in stand-up comedy (and he was quite funny, too!), eventually turning his aim towards small acting roles. In 1995 he started his sitcom The Drew Carey Show which depicted a fictionalized version of his own life. He is also a strong philanthropist, donating upwards to $1 million to library organizations and cancer research groups.
Taylor Swift
On top of being among the most successful and profitable singers of this modern age, Taylor Swift has additional accomplishments in her humanitarian efforts. Collectively, she has donated over $1.5 million to various organizations from children’s hospitals to school programs to disaster relief endeavors. However, her dating life has been a little tumultuous. Well, nobody’s perfect.
Sharon Osbourne
The wife of heavy-metalist Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon is perhaps most prominent for her taste in music, as she’s been a judge on The X Factor, then America’s Got Talent, then back to X Factor. She is also one of the original co-hosts of The Talk.
Rose McGowan
Rose McGowan is most famous for playing Paige in the supernatural drama series Charmed. She has also received smaller film awards like Saturn and MTV Awards for her roles. In 2015, she posted numerous photos of herself rockin’ the Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta look. She described the experience as “liberating”.
Portia de Rossi
Portia’s first significant breakout was in the 1994 Australian movie Sirens, soon after moving to LA where her model good looks gave her the ability to pursue a career in television. Currently she’s married to Ellen DeGeneres and is a supporter of several charitable groups including Locks of Love and an African AIDs relief organization.
Kim Kardashian
Though she’s certainly among the list of celebrities who are famous for being famous (in fact, she’s arguably the queen of them all), Kim is also a successful fashion entrepreneur. She has launched several business ventures such as a perfume line, shoe shopping website, skin care products, and numerous clothes lines. But perhaps her biggest accomplishment is being married to Kanye. Also, we’re pretty sure she should never ever be blonde ever again.
Uma Thurman
She was married to Gary Oldman in 1990 but it only lasted two years. She made quite a career for herself after that, starring in Quentin Tarantino classics Pulp Fiction (for which she received an Oscar nomination) and both Kill Bill movies. She also had prominent roles in movies like Les Misérables and Batman & Robin.
Christina Aguilera
During her childhood years Christina was known as “the little girl with the big voice”, and her musical career all started at the young age of 14 when she recorded a duet with Japanese singer Keizo Nakanishi. Since then she’s adopted numerous styles of music including pop, R&B, and soul to blend into her own musical style.
Chris Martin
Most famous for being co-founder and lead singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin was also married to Gwyneth Paltrow. Given how abrasive of a personality she reportedly has, though, we’re not blaming him for divorcing her. But I’ll bet you didn’t know that he was named World’s Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA in 2005. Such prestigious honors!
Justin Bieber
Love him or hate him (probably the latter), Justin is still one of the most successful musicians . . . and he’s barely into his 20s. His career started at 13 when he sang backup for Usher. Now, his album sales have reached over 100 million and he holds 14 Guinness World Records. He’s even dabbled in acting, appearing briefly in CSI and Zoolander 2. Hopefully he’ll one day move past his punk ways.
Miley Cyrus
Though she’s been involved in some “interesting” activities of late, Miley grew up in a more grounded environment on a 500-acre farm in Tennessee (maybe she had a tire swing, which is where she got her swinging skills from). She eventually followed in her dad’s footsteps in country music but has since branched off into more mainstream music. She is currently a judge on the singing competition show The Voice.
Chris Pratt
Before he was the up and coming superstar for his roles in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, Chris Pratt was known and loved as “the fat guy” in the hit comedy show Parks and Recreation. He’s shed a bit of weight since then, and the ladies thank him all the more for it.
Rihanna
Though she actually had a brief military career as a cadet while in school, Rihanna decided that music was more her thing and she released her first musical demo in 2003. The demo caught the attention of rapper Jay-Z (who at the time was CEO of Def Jam) who eventually signed her to a six-album deal. Today, she has received eight Grammys, among many other awards. She’s even appeared in several movies such as Battleship and This Is the End.
Britney Spears
Britney was the original young-star-gone-wrong archetype that many Disney Channel teens followed, though she thankfully eventually straightened herself up. She currently has two sons and is still recording albums. Happy endings all around!
Melanie Griffith
Melanie Griffith is most known for her roles in Lolita and Working Girl. On top of her substantial acting career, she also has extensive participation in efforts to raise money for children’s hospitals. She has had multiple procedures done to lift her face and erase her wrinkles, which have unfortunately left her looking far less attractive than she was before.
Heidi Montag
Heidi’s career began with four appearances in the second season of the MTV reality television series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. After she moved to Los Angeles, she became the star of the spin-off series The Hills for five years. In late 2009, she underwent 10 cosmetic surgeries in one day, something that she said almost killed her as it reduced her heart rate to five bpm. Since she didn’t actually die, we can say with assuredness that we’re glad she took the risk.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry has been celebrated by magazine publication after publication as one of, if not the, hottest and most attractive women in existence (Elle described her body “as though sketched by a teenage boy”). She has also contributed to various organizations aimed at helping children, such as UNICEF and Little Kids Rock.
Jennifer Hudson
Jennifer’s illustrious career all began in 2004 when she placed 7th in American Idol. Since then she’s become an accomplished singer and actor, winning one Grammy (with three nominations) and an Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA for her role in Dreamgirls. She has recently become a coach for The Voice UK.
Raven-Symoné
Before she was a Disney Channel star in That’s So Raven and Cheetah Girls, or the girl in Dr. Doolittle, Raven was the adorable little girl in The Cosby Show. After taking a short hiatus from acting in 2013 to pursue a degree in fine arts, she became a co-hostess for the all-female commentary show The View.
Russell Brand
He’s widely known as one of Hollywood’s biggest oddballs, especially given his practice of comedically criticizing organizations and companies. But it doesn’t change the fact that he’s still wildly entertaining (he started out doing stand-up) in his roles in such movies as Get Him to the Greek.
Jonah Hill
Though he’s pretty much renowned for his comedic timing and humor in crazy situations from movies like Superbad to the Jump Street movies, Jonah Hill also has the dramatic chops. His Oscar nominations for Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street proved his legitimacy as an actor. He also looks way better without the stereotypical nerd look (we should all praise him for changing his hair).
Kelly Osbourne
Kelly is the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Her immersion in pop culture began when she was part of her family’s reality show The Osbournes. After that time she dabbled in some stage work and modeling, as well as some hosting for television shows.
Pamela Anderson
On top of being an actress known for TV dramas V.I.P. and Baywatch, Pamela Anderson was also an established model (and quite stunning back in the day). Most of her modeling was done with Playboy.
Renée Zellweger
Despite being among People magazine’s 50 most beautiful people, the Chicago and Cinderella Man actress decided to undergo plastic surgery. She showed up at the Elle magazine Women in Hollywood Awards in October of 2014, much to the surprise of everyone who described her as unrecognizable.
Cher
Referred to as the Goddess of Pop, Cher is widely considered to be one of the leading female figures that helped establish women in male-dominated pop culture. Her list of momentous awards spanning from singing to acting includes Grammys, Emmys, Oscars, Golden Globes, among many others.
Jordin Sparks
Jordin rose to prominence after winning the sixth season of American Idol in 2007. In fact, she’s the competition’s youngest winner! Since then she has enjoyed a modest career in singing. She has also contributed and participated in charitable events, including a trip to Ghana where she partnered with the Bush administration in an effort to end Malaria in Africa.
Nicole Kidman
Yet another victim of a de-aging process that only leaves them looking older than ever. The Moulin Rouge star went under the knife a couple years ago to give her face the lift that it so desperately didn’t need. Kidman was looking just fine into her late 40s. Now she’ll have a perpetual frozen face.
