New Unemployment Claims Tick Upward

The number of Americans filing an initial claim for unemployment benefits was up slightly for the week ending Dec. 3, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
There were 230,000 initial claims for unemployment for the week ending Dec. 3, up 4,000 from the prior week.
The total number of people receiving unemployment insurance rose to 1.671 million people in the week ending Nov. 26, an increase of 62,000 over the previous week.
While employers added 263,000 new jobs in November, that figure may fall as the Federal Reserve continues raising interest rates in an effort to combat inflation.
