Growth In Consumer Price Index Slowed In October

In a sign that inflation could begin easing, the consumer price index rose less than expected in October.
Prices measured by the index in October increased 0.4% overall from the month prior, a 7.7 increase from a year ago, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Used car prices saw a significant 2.4% decline in October, while apparel prices dropped 0.7% and medical care services dropped 0.6%.
The price of shelter is still climbing, up 0.8% in October and 6.9% for the year, and the price of fuel oil jumped 19.8% in October, up 68.5% for the year.
The price of groceries rose 0.4% in October, up 12.4% for the year, while the price of food away from home rose 0.9% in October, up 8.6% for the year.
