Paid Verification Could Come To Twitter As Soon As This Week, Per Reports

Elon Musk, in a tweet, said he is planning to charge $8 per month for verification, along with access to premium features.
Bloomberg reported the change could come as early as this week, according to insiders familiar with the plan. Verified users would have a grace period to subscribe before losing their status.
The move to offer verification only to paid subscribers of Twitter Blue sparked backlash over concerns about identification and impersonation on the social media platform.
Verification was introduced in 2009 after St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa sued Twitter over an account impersonating him on the platform.
Bloomberg also reported that the edit tool, currently only available to Twitter Blue users who pay $4.99 per month, could become free to all users.
