Spotify is considering raising U.S. subscription fees, following price hikes from Apple and YouTube, founder CEO Daniel Ek said in a Tuesday earnings call.
“When our competitors are raising their prices, that is really good for us,” Ek said, noting that Spotify had successfully raised prices in other global markets.
An individual Spotify Premium plan has been priced at $9.99 per month since the streaming services U.S. launch in 2011.
Apple this week raised U.S. subscription fees for Apple Music from $9.99/month to $10.99 for individual plans and from $14.99/month to $16.99 for families.
A Youtube Premium family plan with up to six accounts will now cost $22.99 per month in the U.S., up from $17.99.
